8:1~12
8:1 이스라엘 자손이 자기들의 성읍에 거주하였더니 일곱째 달에 이르러 모든 백성이 일제히 수문 앞 광장에 모여 학사 에스라에게 여호와께서 이스라엘에게 명령하신 모세의 율법책을 가져오기를 청하매
8:2 일곱째 달 초하루에 제사장 에스라가 율법책을 가지고 회중 앞 곧 남자나 여자나 알아들을 만한 모든 사람 앞에 이르러
8:3 수문 앞 광장에서 새벽부터 정오까지 남자나 여자나 알아들을 만한 모든 사람 앞에서 읽으매 뭇 백성이 그 율법책에 귀를 기울였는데
8:4 그 때에 학사 에스라가 특별히 지은 나무 강단에 서고 그의 곁 오른쪽에 선 자는 맛디댜와 스마와 아나야와 우리야와 힐기야와 마아세야요 그의 왼쪽에 선 자는 브다야와 미사엘과 말기야와 하숨과 하스밧다나와 스가랴와 므술람이라
8:5 에스라가 모든 백성 위에 서서 그들 목전에 책을 펴니 책을 펼 때에 모든 백성이 일어서니라
8:6 에스라가 위대하신 하나님 여호와를 송축하매 모든 백성이 손을 들고 아멘 아멘 하고 응답하고 몸을 굽혀 얼굴을 땅에 대고 여호와께 경배하니라
8:7 예수아와 바니와 세레뱌와 야민과 악굽과 사브대와 호디야와 마아세야와 그리다와 아사랴와 요사밧과 하난과 블라야와 레위 사람들은 백성이 제자리에 서 있는 동안 그들에게 율법을 깨닫게 하였는데
8:8 하나님의 율법책을 낭독하고 그 뜻을 해석하여 백성에게 그 낭독하는 것을 다 깨닫게 하니
8:9 백성이 율법의 말씀을 듣고 다 우는지라 총독 느헤미야와 제사장 겸 학사 에스라와 백성을 가르치는 레위 사람들이 모든 백성에게 이르기를 오늘은 너희 하나님 여호와의 성일이니 슬퍼하지 말며 울지 말라 하고
8:10 느헤미야가 또 그들에게 이르기를 너희는 가서 살진 것을 먹고 단 것을 마시되 준비하지 못한 자에게는 나누어 주라 이 날은 우리 주의 성일이니 근심하지 말라 여호와로 인하여 기뻐하는 것이 너희의 힘이니라 하고
8:11 레위 사람들도 모든 백성을 정숙하게 하여 이르기를 오늘은 성일이니 마땅히 조용하고 근심하지 말라 하니
8:12 모든 백성이 곧 가서 먹고 마시며 나누어 주고 크게 즐거워하니 이는 그들이 그 읽어 들려 준 말을 밝히 앎이라

8:1~12
8:1 모든 백성이 한꺼번에 수문 앞 광장에 모였다. 그들은 학자 에스라에게, 주께서 이스라엘에게 명하신 모세의 율법책을 가지고 오라고 청하였다.
8:2 일곱째 달 초하루에 에스라 제사장은 율법책을 가지고 회중 앞에 나왔다. 거기에는, 남자나 여자나, 알아들을 만한 사람은 모두 나와 있었다.
8:3 그는 수문 앞 광장에서, 남자든 여자든, 알아들을 만한 모든 사람에게 새벽부터 정오까지, 큰소리로 율법책을 읽어 주었다. 백성은 모두 율법책 읽는 소리에 귀를 기울였다.
8:4 학자 에스라는 임시로 만든 높은 나무 단 위에 섰다. 그 오른쪽으로는 맛디댜와 스마와 아나야와 우리야와 힐기야와 마아세야가 서고, 왼쪽으로는 브다야와 미사엘과 말기야와 하숨과 하스밧다나와 스가랴와 므술람이 섰다.
8:5 학자 에스라는 높은 단 위에 서 있었으므로, 백성들은 모두, 그가 책 펴는 것을 볼 수 있었다. 에스라가 책을 펴면, 백성들은 모두 일어섰다.
8:6 에스라가 위대하신 주 하나님을 찬양하면, 백성들은 모두 손을 들고 "아멘 ! 아멘 !" 하고 응답하고, 엎드려 얼굴을 땅에 대고 주께 경배하였다.
8:7 레위 사람인 예수아와 바니와 세레뱌와 야민과 악굽과 사브대와 호디야와 마아세야와 그리다와 아사랴와 요사밧과 하난과 블라야는, 백성들이 제자리에 서 있는 동안에, 그들에게 율법을 설명하여 주었다.
8:8 하나님의 율법책이 낭독될 때에, 그들이 b) 통역을 하고 뜻을 밝혀 설명하여 주었으므로, 백성은 내용을 잘 알아들을 수 있었다. (b. 히브리어에서 아람어로)
8:9 백성은 율법의 말씀을 들으면서, 모두 울었다. 그래서 총독 느헤미야와 학자 에스라 제사장과 백성을 가르치는 레위 사람들이, 이 날은 주 하나님의 거룩한 날이니, 슬퍼하지도 말고 울지도 말라고 모든 백성을 타일렀다.
8:10 느헤미야는 그들에게 말하였다. "돌아들 가시오. 살진 짐승들을 잡아 푸짐하게 차려서, 먹고 마시도록 하시오. 아무것도 차리지 못한 사람들에게는, 먹을 몫을 보내 주시오. 오늘은 우리 주의 거룩한 날이오. 주 앞에서 기뻐하면 힘이 생기는 법이니, 슬퍼하지들 마시오."
8:11 레위 사람들도 모든 백성을 달래면서, 오늘은 거룩한 날이니, 조용히 하고, 슬퍼하지 말라고 타일렀다.
8:12 모든 백성은 배운 바를 밝히 깨달았으므로, 돌아가서 먹고 마시며, 없는 사람들에게는 먹을 것을 나누어 주면서, 크게 기뻐하였다.

8:3 수문 앞 광장에서 새벽부터 오정까지 남자, 여자 무릇 알아들을 만한 자의 앞에서 읽으매 뭇 백성이 그 율법책에 귀를 기울였는데
8:4 때에 학사 에스라가 특별히 지은 나무 강단에 서매 그 우편에 선 자는 맛디댜와 스마와 아나야와 우리야와 힐기야와 마아세야요 그 좌편에 선 자는 브다야와 미사엘과 말기야와 하숨과 하스밧다나와 스가랴와 므술람이라
8:5 학사 에스라가 모든 백성 위에 서서 저희 목전에 책을 펴니 책을 펼 때에 모든 백성이 일어서니라
8:6 에스라가 광대하신 하나님 여호와를 송축하매 모든 백성이 손을 들고 아멘 아멘 응답하고 몸을 굽혀 얼굴을 땅에 대고 여호와께 경배하였느니라
8:7 예수아와 바니와 세레뱌와 야민과 악굽과 사브대와 호디야와 마아세야와 그리다와 아사랴와 요사밧과 하난과 블라야와 레위 사람들이 다 그 처소에 섰는 백성에게 율법을 깨닫게 하는데
8:8 하나님의 율법책을 낭독하고 그 뜻을 해석하여 백성으로 그 낭독하는 것을 다 깨닫게 하매
8:9 백성이 율법의 말씀을 듣고 다 우는지라 총독 느헤미야와 제사장 겸 학사 에스라와 백성을 가르치는 레위 사람들이 모든 백성에게 이르기를 오늘은 너희 하나님 여호와의 성일이니 슬퍼하지 말며 울지 말라 하고
8:10 느헤미야가 또 이르기를 너희는 가서 살진 것을 먹고 단 것을 마시되 예비치 못한 자에게는 너희가 나누어 주라 이 날은 우리 주의 성일이니 근심하지 말라 여호와를 기뻐하는 것이 너희의 힘이니라 하고
8:11 레위 사람들도 모든 백성을 정숙케 하여 이르기를 오늘은 성일이니 마땅히 종용하고 근심하지 말라 하매
8:12 모든 백성이 곧 가서 먹고 마시며 나누어 주고 크게 즐거워하였으니 이는 그 읽어 들린 말을 밝히 앎이니라

8:1 이스라엘 백성은 각기 저희의 성읍에서 살고 있다가 칠월이 되자 일제히 수문 앞 광장에 모여 와서 선비 에즈라에게 청하였다. "야훼께서 이스라엘에게 내려 주신 모세의 법전을 가지고 오십시오."
8:2 사제 에즈라는 그 법전을 가지고 회중 앞에 나타났다. 그 자리에는 남자와 여자, 아이들에 이르기까지 말귀를 알아 들을 만한 사람은 모두 모여 있었다. 때는 칠월 초하루였다.
8:3 그는 수문 앞 광장에 나타나 해뜰녘부터 해가 중천에 이르기까지 남녀를 가리지 않고 셈든 사람들에게 그것을 들려 주었고 온 백성은 그 법전을 귀담아 들었다.
8:4 선비 에즈라는 특별히 만든 나무 단 위에 올라 가 섰고, 그 오른쪽에는 마띠디야, 세마, 아나야, 우리야, 힐키야, 마아세야가, 왼쪽에는 브다야, 미사엘, 말기야, 하숨, 하스바따나, 즈가리야, 므술람이 섰다.
8:5 에즈라가 모두 쳐다볼 수 있도록 높은 자리에서 책을 펴들자 온 백성은 일어섰다.
8:6 에즈라가 높으신 하느님 야훼를 칭송하자 온 백성도 손을 쳐들고 "아멘" "아멘" 하고 응답하며 무릎을 꿇고 땅에 엎드려 야훼를 예배하였다.
8:7 그리고 백성은 일어나서 레위인들인 예수아, 바니, 세레비야, 야민, 아쿱, 삽대, 호디야, 마아세야, 클리타, 아자리야, 요자밧,하난, 블라야에게서 법을 배웠다.
8:8 에즈라는 백성들이 알아 듣고 깨칠 수 있도록 하느님의 법전을 읽으며 풀이하여 주었다.
8:9 온 백성은 법전에 기록되어 있는 말 한 마디 한 마디를 들으면서 울었다. 그래서 총독 느헤미야와 선비요 사제인 에즈라와 백성을 가르치던 레위인들이 온 백성에게 일렀다. "이 날은 너희 하느님 야훼께 바친 거룩한 날이니 울며 애통하지 말라."
8:10 그리고 그는 이렇게 일러 주었다. "가서 잔치를 차려 배불리 먹고마셔라. 미처 마련하지 못한 사람이 있거든 그런 사람도 빼놓지 말고 몫몫이 보내 주도록 하여라. 이 날은 우리 주님의 날로 거룩하게 지킬 날이나 슬퍼하지 말라. 야훼 앞에서 기뻐하면, 너희를 지켜 주시리라."
8:11 레위인들도 온 백성을 진정시키며 이렇게 일러 주었다. "조용히 있어라. 이 날은 거룩한 날이니 슬퍼하지 말라."
8:12 온 백성은 그 가르침을 깨닫고 마냥 기뻐하며 돌아 가서 크게 잔치를 벌이고 없는 사람에게는 몫몫이 나누어 주면서 먹고 마시며 좋아하였다.
느헤미야

8:1 7월 1일에 모든 이스라엘 백성들은 일제히 수문 앞 광장에 모여 율법학자 에스라에게 여호와께서 모세를 통해 이스라엘 백성에게 주신 율법책을 가져와 읽어 달라고 하였다.
8:2 그래서 제사장 에스라는 듣고 이해할 수 있는 남녀 모든 군중들 앞으로 그 율법책을 가지고 가
8:3 그 곳 수문 앞 광장에서 새벽부터 정오까지 그것을 읽어 주었으며 백성들은 모두 귀를 기울이고 주의 깊게 들었다.
8:4 그때 에스라는 특별히 마련된 나무 강단 위에 서서 그것을 읽었으며 그 오른쪽에는 맛디댜, 스마, 아나야, 우리아, 힐기야, 마아세야가 서 있었고 그 왼쪽에는 브다야, 미사엘, 말기야, 하숨, 하스밧다나, 스가랴, 므술람이 서 있었다.
8:5 모든 사람들이 다 볼 수 있도록 에스라가 강단에 높이 서서 그 책을 폈을 때 백성들은 일제히 일어섰다.
8:6 에스라가 위대하신 하나님 여호와를 찬양하자 모든 백성들은 손을 들고 '아멘! 아멘!' 하며 응답하였다. 그리고서 그들은 얼굴을 땅에 대고 엎드려 여호와께 경배하였다.
8:7 에스라가 그 율법책을 읽을 때 레위 사람 예수아, 바니, 세레뱌, 야민, 악굽, 사브대, 호디야, 마아세야, 그리다, 아사랴, 요사밧, 하난, 블라야는 백성들 가운데 서서 그 뜻을 해석하여 낭독하는 것을 백성들이 이해할 수 있도록 하였다.
8:8 (7절과 같음)
8:9 백성들이 그 율법의 말씀을 듣고 울기 시작하자 총독인 나 느헤미야와 제사장 에스라와 백성들을 가르치는 레위인들이 그들에게 '오늘은 우리 하나님 여호와께 거룩한 날이므로 슬퍼하거나 울지 마시오.' 하였다.
8:10 그리고 나 느헤미야는 다시 그들에게 이렇게 말하였다. '여러분은 집으로 가서 잔치를 베풀고 마음껏 먹고 마시며 가난한 사람들에게도 나누어 주십시오. 오늘은 여호와께 거룩한 날이므로 슬퍼해서는 안 됩니다. 여호와께서 주시는 기쁨이 여러분의 힘이 될 것입니다.'
8:11 그리고 레위 사람들도 백성들을 진정시키며 거룩한 날에 슬퍼하지 말라고 하자
8:12 모든 백성들은 집으로 가서 음식을 만들어 가난한 사람들과 함께 먹고 마시며 즐거워하였다. 이것은 그들이 들은 율법의 말씀을 깨달았기 때문이었다.
Nehemiah
8:1~12
8:1 all the people assembled as one man in the square before the Water Gate. They told Ezra the scribe to bring out the Book of the Law of Moses, which the LORD had commanded for Israel.
8:2 So on the first day of the seventh month Ezra the priest brought the Law before the assembly, which was made up of men and women and all who were able to understand.
8:3 He read it aloud from daybreak till noon as he faced the square before the Water Gate in the presence of the men, women and others who could understand. And all the people listened attentively to the Book of the Law.
8:4 Ezra the scribe stood on a high wooden platform built for the occasion. Beside him on his right stood Mattithiah, Shema, Anaiah, Uriah, Hilkiah and Maaseiah; and on his left were Pedaiah, Mishael, Malkijah, Hashum, Hashbaddanah, Zechariah and Meshullam.
8:5 Ezra opened the book. All the people could see him because he was standing above them; and as he opened it, the people all stood up.
8:6 Ezra praised the LORD, the great God; and all the people lifted their hands and responded, "Amen! Amen!" Then they bowed down and worshiped the LORD with their faces to the ground.
8:7 The Levites--Jeshua, Bani, Sherebiah, Jamin, Akkub, Shabbethai, Hodiah, Maaseiah, Kelita, Azariah, Jozabad, Hanan and Pelaiah--instructed the people in the Law while the people were standing there.
8:8 They read from the Book of the Law of God, making it clear and giving the meaning so that the people could understand what was being read.
8:9 Then Nehemiah the governor, Ezra the priest and scribe, and the Levites who were instructing the people said to them all, "This day is sacred to the LORD your God. Do not mourn or weep." For all the people had been weeping as they listened to the words of the Law.
8:10 Nehemiah said, "Go and enjoy choice food and sweet drinks, and send some to those who have nothing prepared. This day is sacred to our Lord. Do not grieve, for the joy of the LORD is your strength."
8:11 The Levites calmed all the people, saying, "Be still, for this is a sacred day. Do not grieve."
8:12 Then all the people went away to eat and drink, to send portions of food and to celebrate with great joy, because they now understood the words that had been made known to them.
Nehemiah

8:1 And all the people gathered themselves together as one man into the street that [was] before the water gate; and they spake unto Ezra the scribe to bring the book of the law of Moses, which the LORD had commanded to Israel.
8:2 And Ezra the priest brought the law before the congregation both of men and women, and all that could hear with understanding, upon the first day of the seventh month.
8:3 And he read therein before the street that [was] before the water gate from the morning until midday, before the men and the women, and those that could understand; and the ears of all the people [were attentive] unto the book of the law.
8:4 And Ezra the scribe stood upon a pulpit of wood, which they had made for the purpose; and beside him stood Mattithiah, and Shema, and Anaiah, and Urijah, and Hilkiah, and Maaseiah, on his right hand; and on his left hand, Pedaiah, and Mishael, and Malchiah, and Hashum, and Hashbadana, Zechariah, [and] Meshullam.
8:5 And Ezra opened the book in the sight of all the people; (for he was above all the people;) and when he opened it, all the people stood up:
8:6 And Ezra blessed the LORD, the great God. And all the people answered, Amen, Amen, with lifting up their hands: and they bowed their heads, and worshipped the LORD with [their] faces to the ground.
8:7 Also Jeshua, and Bani, and Sherebiah, Jamin, Akkub, Shabbethai, Hodijah, Maaseiah, Kelita, Azariah, Jozabad, Hanan, Pelaiah, and the Levites, caused the people to understand the law: and the people [stood] in their place.
8:8 So they read in the book in the law of God distinctly, and gave the sense, and caused [them] to understand the reading.
8:9 And Nehemiah, which [is] the Tirshatha, and Ezra the priest the scribe, and the Levites that taught the people, said unto all the people, This day [is] holy unto the LORD your God; mourn not, nor weep. For all the people wept, when they heard the words of the law.
8:10 Then he said unto them, Go your way, eat the fat, and drink the sweet, and send portions unto them for whom nothing is prepared: for [this] day [is] holy unto our Lord: neither be ye sorry; for the joy of the LORD is your strength.
8:11 So the Levites stilled all the people, saying, Hold your peace, for the day [is] holy; neither be ye grieved.
8:12 And all the people went their way to eat, and to drink, and to send portions, and to make great mirth, because they had understood the words that were declared unto them.

8:4 And Ezra the scribe stood at a wooden podium which they had made for the purpose. And beside him stood Mattithiah, Shema, Anaiah, Uriah, Hilkiah, and Maaseiah on his right hand; and Pedaiah, Mishael, Malchijah, Hashum, Hashbaddanah, Zechariah, [and] Meshullam on his left hand.

8:9 Then Nehemiah, who was the governor, and Ezra the priest [and] scribe, and the Levites who taught the people said to all the people, "This day is holy to the LORD your God; do not mourn or weep." For all the people were weeping when they heard the words of the law.
8:10 Then he said to them, "Go, eat of the fat, drink of the sweet, and send portions to him who has nothing prepared; for this day is holy to our Lord. Do not be grieved, for the joy of the LORD is your strength."
8:11 So the Levites calmed all the people, saying, "Be still, for the day is holy; do not be grieved."
8:12 And all the people went away to eat, to drink, to send portions and to celebrate a great festival, because they understood the words which had been made known to them.
