6:15 성벽 공사가 끝나다 성벽 역사가 오십이 일 만인 엘룰월 이십오일에 끝나매
6:16 우리의 모든 대적과 주위에 있는 이방 족속들이 이를 듣고 다 두려워하여 크게 낙담하였으니 그들이 우리 하나님께서 이 역사를 이루신 것을 앎이니라
6:17 또한 그 때에 유다의 귀족들이 여러 번 도비야에게 편지하였고 도비야의 편지도 그들에게 이르렀으니
6:18 도비야는 아라의 아들 스가냐의 사위가 되었고 도비야의 아들 여호하난도 베레갸의 아들 므술람의 딸을 아내로 맞이하였으므로 유다에서 그와 동맹한 자가 많음이라
6:19 그들이 도비야의 선행을 내 앞에 말하고 또 내 말도 그에게 전하매 도비야가 내게 편지하여 나를 두렵게 하고자 하였느니라
7:1 느헤미야가 지도자들을 세우다 성벽이 건축되매 문짝을 달고 문지기와 노래하는 자들과 레위 사람들을 세운 후에
7:2 내 아우 하나니와 영문의 관원 하나냐가 함께 예루살렘을 다스리게 하였는데 하나냐는 충성스러운 사람이요 하나님을 경외함이 무리 중에서 뛰어난 자라
7:3 내가 그들에게 이르기를 해가 높이 뜨기 전에는 예루살렘 성문을 열지 말고 아직 파수할 때에 곧 문을 닫고 빗장을 지르며 또 예루살렘 주민이 각각 자기가 지키는 곳에서 파수하되 자기 집 맞은편을 지키게 하라 하였노니
7:4 그 성읍은 광대하고 그 주민은 적으며 가옥은 미처 건축하지 못하였음이니라

6:15 성벽 공사가 끝나다 성벽 공사는 오십이 일만인 b) 엘룰월 이십 오일에 끝났다. (b. 양력 팔월 초순 이후)
6:16 우리의 모든 원수와 주변의 여러 민족이 이 소식을 듣고, 완공된 성벽도 보았다. 그제서야 우리의 원수는, 이 공사가 우리 하나님의 도움으로 이루어진 것임을 깨달았다. 그래서 그들은 기가 꺾였다.
6:17 그 무렵에 유다의 귀족들이 도비야에게 편지를 자주 보내고, 도비야도 그들에게 편지를 보내곤 하였다.
6:18 도비야는 아라의 아들인 스가냐의 사위인데다가, 도비야의 아들 여호하난도 베레갸의 아들인 므술람의 딸과 결혼하였으므로, 유다에는 그와 동맹을 맺은 사람들이 많았다.
6:19 그들은, 내 앞에서도 서슴없이 도비야를 칭찬하고, 내가 하는 말은 무엇이든지 다 그에게 일러바쳤다. 그래서 도비야는 나에게 협박 편지를 여러 통 보내서 위협하였다.
7:1 느헤미야가 지도자들을 세우다 성벽을 다시 쌓고, 문들을 제자리에 단 다음에, 나는 성전 문지기와 노래하는 사람과 레위 사람을 세우고
7:2 나의 아우 하나니와 성채 지휘관 하나냐에게 예루살렘 경비를 맡겼다. 하나냐는 진실한 사람이고, 남다르게 하나님을 두려워하는 사람이었다.
7:3 나는 그에게 일렀다. "해가 떠서 환해지기 전에는 예루살렘 성문들을 열지 말고, 해가 아직 높이 있을 때에, 성문들을 닫고 빗장을 지르도록 하시오. 예루살렘 성 사람들로 경비를 세우시오. 일부는 지정된 초소에서, 일부는 자기들의 집 가까이에서 경비를 서게 하시오."
7:4 포로에서 돌아온 사람들;스2:1-70 성읍은 크고 넓으나, 인구가 얼마 안 되고, 제대로 지은 집도 얼마 없었다.

6:16 우리 모든 대적과 사면 이방 사람들이 이를 듣고 다 두려워하여 스스로 낙담하였으니 이는 이 역사를 우리 하나님이 이루신 것을 앎이니라
6:17 그 때에 유다의 귀인들이 여러 번 도비야에게 편지하였고 도비야의 편지도 저희에게 이르렀으니
6:18 도비야는 아라의 아들 스가냐의 사위가 되었고 도비야의 아들 여호하난도 베레갸의 아들 므술람의 딸을 취하였으므로 유다에서 저와 동맹한 자가 많음이라
6:19 저희들이 도비야의 선행을 내 앞에 말하고 또 나의 말도 저에게 전하매 도비야가 항상 내게 편지하여 나를 두렵게 하고자 하였느니라
7:1 성이 건축되매 문짝을 달고 문지기와 노래하는 자들과 레위 사람들을 세운 후에
7:2 내 아우 하나니와 영문의 관원 하나냐로 함께 예루살렘을 다스리게 하였는데 하나냐는 위인이 충성되어 하나님을 경외함이 무리에서 뛰어난 자라
7:3 내가 저희에게 이르기를 해가 높이 뜨기 전에는 예루살렘 성문을 열지 말고 아직 파수할 때에 곧 문을 닫고 빗장을 지르며 또 예루살렘 거민으로 각각 반차를 따라 파수하되 자기 집 맞은편을 지키게 하라 하였노니
7:4 그 성은 광대하고 거민은 희소하여 가옥을 오히려 건축하지 못하였음이니라

6:15 엘룰월 이십 오일, 오십 이 일간에 걸친 성 수축 공사가 끝났다.
6:16 이 소식은 우리의 모든 원수들의 귀에 들어 갔고, 우리 주위에 살던 뭇 민족들은 이 일을 눈으로 보고 매우 놀랐다. 그들은 그제야 이 일을 이룩하신 이가 다름 아닌 우리 하느님이심을 알게되었다.
6:17 그 당시 많은 유다 유지들이 토비야와 자주 편지를 교환하고 있었다.
6:18 토비야는 아라의 아들 스가니야의 사위였고 그의 아들 여호하난은베레기야의 아들 므술람의 사위였으므로 많은 유다인들이 토비야와 맹약을 맺고 있었던 것이다.
6:19 그들은 내 앞에서 공공연히 토비야를 칭찬하였고 내가 무슨 말을 하든지 그 말을 토비야에게 몰래 일러 바치곤 하였다. 그리하여 나는 토비야에게서 협박 편지를 여러 통 받았던 것이다.
7:1 성 수축이 끝나자 나는 성문을 만들어달고는 수위들을 배치시켰다.
7:2 그리고는 동생 하나니와 성채 수령 하나니야에게 예루살렘 수비를맡겼다. 하나니야는 진실한 사람으로서 누구보다도 하느님 두려운줄을 아는 사람이었다.
7:3 나는 그들에게 일렀다. "해가 뜨거워지기 전에는 문을 열지 말고 해가 아직 높이 있을 때 문을 닫아 걸도록 하여라. 예루살렘 성민으로 보초를 세워라. 사람마다 초소를 정해 주어 보초를 서게할 뿐만 아니라, 집마다 제 집 앞에 보초를 서게 하여라.
7:4 원체 성이 크고 넓은데다 인구는 얼마 되지 않아 새 집을 세울 수가 없었다.

6:15 드디어 성벽 재건 공사는 52일 만인 6월 25일에 끝났다.
6:16 그러자 우리의 모든 원수들과 우리 주변의 이방사람들이 이 말을 듣고 두려워 기가 꺾였다. 이것은 이 일이 우리 하나님의 도우심으로 완성된 것임을 그들도 알고 있었기 때문이었다.
6:17 이 기간에 유다 지도자들은 도비야와 많은 서신 교환을 하였다.
6:18 아라의 아들 스가냐는 그의 장인이었고 그의 아들 여호하난은 베레갸의 아들 므술람의 딸과 결혼하였으므로 유다에서 많은 사람들이 그에게 충성할 것을 맹세하였다.
6:19 그리고 백성들은 내 앞에서 도비야의 선한 행위를 말하고 또 내가 한 말을 모두 그에게 보고하였다. 그래서 그는 계속 나에게 편지를 보내 나를 위협하였다.
7:1 성벽 건축 공사를 마치고 성문을 단 다음에 나는 성전 문지기와 성가대원과 레위 사람들에게 업무를 할당하고
7:2 내 동생 하나니와 요새의 지휘관 하나냐에게 예루살렘을 다스릴 책임을 맡게 하였다. 하나냐는 그 누구보다도 성실하고 하나님을 두려워하는 사람이었다.
7:3 그리고 나는 그들에게 해가 높이 떠오를 때까지는 예루살렘 성문을 열지 말며 문지기가 문을 지키고 있을 때 성문을 닫고 빗장을 지르도록 지시하였다. 나는 또 그들에게 예루살렘 주민들 가운데 경계병을 세워 각자 자기 초소와 자기 집앞을 경계하게 하라고 지시하였다.
7:4 예루살렘은 크고 넓은 성이었으나 거기에 사는 사람이 많지 않아 아직 집을 많이 짓지 않았다.

6:15 So the wall was completed on the twenty-fifth of Elul, in fifty-two days.
6:16 When all our enemies heard about this, all the surrounding nations were afraid and lost their self-confidence, because they realized that this work had been done with the help of our God.
6:17 Also, in those days the nobles of Judah were sending many letters to Tobiah, and replies from Tobiah kept coming to them.
6:18 For many in Judah were under oath to him, since he was son-in-law to Shecaniah son of Arah, and his son Jehohanan had married the daughter of Meshullam son of Berekiah.
6:19 Moreover, they kept reporting to me his good deeds and then telling him what I said. And Tobiah sent letters to intimidate me.
7:1 After the wall had been rebuilt and I had set the doors in place, the gatekeepers and the singers and the Levites were appointed.
7:2 I put in charge of Jerusalem my brother Hanani, along with Hananiah the commander of the citadel, because he was a man of integrity and feared God more than most men do.
7:3 I said to them, "The gates of Jerusalem are not to be opened until the sun is hot. While the gatekeepers are still on duty, have them shut the doors and bar them. Also appoint residents of Jerusalem as guards, some at their posts and some near their own houses."
7:4 Now the city was large and spacious, but there were few people in it, and the houses had not yet been rebuilt.

6:15 So the wall was finished in the twenty and fifth [day] of [the month] Elul, in fifty and two days.
6:16 And it came to pass, that when all our enemies heard [thereof], and all the heathen that [were] about us saw [these things], they were much cast down in their own eyes: for they perceived that this work was wrought of our God.
6:17 Moreover in those days the nobles of Judah sent many letters unto Tobiah, and [the letters] of Tobiah came unto them.
6:18 For [there were] many in Judah sworn unto him, because he [was] the son in law of Shechaniah the son of Arah; and his son Johanan had taken the daughter of Meshullam the son of Berechiah.
6:19 Also they reported his good deeds before me, and uttered my words to him. [And] Tobiah sent letters to put me in fear.
7:1 Now it came to pass, when the wall was built, and I had set up the doors, and the porters and the singers and the Levites were appointed,
7:2 That I gave my brother Hanani, and Hananiah the ruler of the palace, charge over Jerusalem: for he [was] a faithful man, and feared God above many.
7:3 And I said unto them, Let not the gates of Jerusalem be opened until the sun be hot; and while they stand by, let them shut the doors, and bar [them]: and appoint watches of the inhabitants of Jerusalem, every one in his watch, and every one [to be] over against his house.
7:4 Now the city [was] large and great: but the people [were] few therein, and the houses [were] not builded.

6:17 Also in those days many letters went from the nobles of Judah to Tobiah, and Tobiah's [letters] came to them.
6:18 For many in Judah were bound by oath to him because he was the son-in-law of Shecaniah the son of Arah, and his son Jehohanan had married the daughter of Meshullam the son of Berechiah.
6:19 Moreover, they were speaking about his good deeds in my presence and reported my words to him. Then Tobiah sent letters to frighten me.
7:1 Now it came about when the wall was rebuilt and I had set up the doors, and the gatekeepers and the singers and the Levites were appointed,
7:2 that I put Hanani my brother, and Hananiah the commander of the fortress, in charge of Jerusalem, for he was a faithful man and feared God more than many.
7:3 Then I said to them, "Do not let the gates of Jerusalem be opened until the sun is hot, and while they are standing [guard,] let them shut and bolt the doors. Also appoint guards from the inhabitants of Jerusalem, each at his post, and each in front of his own house."
7:4 Now the city was large and spacious, but the people in it were few and the houses were not built.
