5:1~12
5:1 요단 서쪽의 아모리 사람의 모든 왕들과 해변의 가나안 사람의 모든 왕들이 여호와께서 요단 물을 이스라엘 자손들 앞에서 말리시고 우리를 건너게 하셨음을 듣고 마음이 녹았고 이스라엘 자손들 때문에 정신을 잃었더라
5:2 이스라엘이 길갈에서 할례를 받다 그 때에 여호와께서 여호수아에게 이르시되 너는 부싯돌로 칼을 만들어 이스라엘 자손들에게 다시 할례를 행하라 하시매
5:3 여호수아가 부싯돌로 칼을 만들어 할례 산에서 이스라엘 자손들에게 할례를 행하니라
5:4 여호수아가 할례를 시행한 까닭은 이것이니 애굽에서 나온 모든 백성 중 남자 곧 모든 군사는 애굽에서 나온 후 광야 길에서 죽었는데
5:5 그 나온 백성은 다 할례를 받았으나 다만 애굽에서 나온 후 광야 길에서 난 자는 할례를 받지 못하였음이라
5:6 이스라엘 자손들이 여호와의 음성을 청종하지 아니하므로 여호와께서 그들에게 대하여 맹세하사 그들의 조상들에게 맹세하여 우리에게 주리라고 하신 땅 곧 젖과 꿀이 흐르는 땅을 그들이 보지 못하게 하리라 하시매 애굽에서 나온 족속 곧 군사들이 다 멸절하기까지 사십 년 동안을 광야에서 헤매었더니
5:7 그들의 대를 잇게 하신 이 자손에게 여호수아가 할례를 행하였으니 길에서는 그들에게 할례를 행하지 못하였으므로 할례 없는 자가 되었음이었더라
5:8 또 그 모든 백성에게 할례 행하기를 마치매 백성이 진중 각 처소에 머물며 낫기를 기다릴 때에
5:9 여호와께서 여호수아에게 이르시되 내가 오늘 애굽의 수치를 너희에게서 떠나가게 하였다 하셨으므로 그 곳 이름을 오늘까지 길갈이라 하느니라
5:10 또 이스라엘 자손들이 길갈에 진 쳤고 그 달 십사일 저녁에는 여리고 평지에서 유월절을 지켰으며
5:11 유월절 이튿날에 그 땅의 소산물을 먹되 그 날에 무교병과 볶은 곡식을 먹었더라
5:12 또 그 땅의 소산물을 먹은 다음 날에 만나가 그쳤으니 이스라엘 사람들이 다시는 만나를 얻지 못하였고 그 해에 가나안 땅의 소출을 먹었더라
여호수아
5:1~12
5:1 요단 강 서쪽에 있는 아모리 사람의 모든 왕과, 해변에 있는 가나안 사람의 모든 왕이, 주께서 이스라엘 자손 앞에서 그들이 요단 강을 다 건널 때까지 그 강물을 말리셨다는 소식을 듣고 간담이 서늘했고, 이스라엘 자손 앞에서 아주 용기를 잃고 말았다.
5:2 이스라엘이 길갈에서 할례를 받다 그 때에 주께서 여호수아에게 말씀하셨다. "너는 돌칼을 만들어, 이스라엘 자손에게 다시 할례를 베풀어라."
5:3 그래서 여호수아는 돌칼을 만들어 a) 기브앗 하아라롯 산에서 이스라엘 자손에게 할례를 베풀었다. (a. 할례 산)
5:4 여호수아가 할례를 베푼 데는 이런 이유가 있었다. 이집트에서 나온 모든 백성 가운데서, 남자, 곧 전투할 수 있는 모든 군인은, 이집트를 떠난 다음에, 광야를 지나는 동안에 다 죽었다.
5:5 그 때에 나온 백성은 모두 할례를 받았으나, 이집트에서 나온 다음에, 광야를 지나는 동안에 태어난 사람은 아무도 할례를 받지 못하였다.
5:6 이스라엘 자손 가운데서, 이집트를 떠날 때에 징집 연령에 해당하던 남자들은, 사십 년을 광야에서 헤매는 동안에, 그 광야에서 다 죽고 말았다. 주께서는, 젖과 꿀이 흐르는 땅을 주시겠다고 우리의 조상에게 맹세하셨지만, 이집트를 떠난 조상이 주의 말씀을 순종하지 않았기 때문에, 그들이 젖과 꿀이 흐르는 그 땅을 볼 수 없게 하겠다고 맹세하셨다.
5:7 그들을 대신하여 자손을 일으켜 주셔서, 여호수아가 그들에게 할례를 베풀었는데, 그것은, 광야를 지나는 동안에 그들에게 할례를 베풀지 않아서, 그들이 무할례자가 되었기 때문이다.
5:8 백성이 모두 할례를 받고 나서 다 낫기까지 진 안에 머물러 있었다.
5:9 주께서 여호수아에게 말씀하셨다. "너희가 이집트에서 받은 수치를, 오늘 내가 b) 없애 버렸다" 그리하여 그 곳 이름을 오늘까지 c) 길갈이라고 한다. (b. 히 갈랄. c. 길갈은 굴리다, 없애다라는 뜻을 가진 갈랄과 발음이 비슷함)
5:10 이스라엘 자손은 길갈에 진을 치고, 그 달 열나흗날 저녁에 여리고 근방 평야에서 유월절을 지켰다.
5:11 유월절 다음 날, 그들은 그 땅의 소출을 먹었다. 바로 그 날에 그들은 누룩을 넣지 않은 빵과 볶은 곡식을 먹었다.
5:12 그 땅의 소출을 먹은 다음날부터 만나가 그쳐서, 이스라엘 자손은 더 이상 만나를 얻지 못하였다. 그들은 그 해에 가나안 땅에서 나는 것을 먹었다.

5:3 여호수아가 부싯돌로 칼을 만들어 할례 산에서 이스라엘 자손들에게 할례를 행하니라
5:4 여호수아가 할례를 시행한 까닭은 이것이니 애굽에서 나온 모든 백성 중 남자 곧 모든 군사는 애굽에서 나온 후 광야 노중에서 죽었는데
5:5 그 나온 백성은 다 할례를 받았으나 오직 애굽에서 나온 후 광야 노중에서 난 자는 할례를 받지 못하였음이라
5:6 이스라엘 자손들이 여호와의 말씀을 청종치 아니하므로 여호와께서 그들에게 대하여 맹세하사 그들의 열조에게 맹세하여 우리에게 주마 하신 땅 곧 젖과 꿀이 흐르는 땅을 그들로 보지 못하게 하리라 하시매 애굽에서 나온 족속 곧 군사들이 다 멸절하기까지 사십 년 동안을 광야에 행하였더니
5:7 그들의 대를 잇게 하신 이 자손에게 여호수아가 할례를 행하였으니 길에서는 그들에게 할례를 행치 못하였으므로 할례 없는 자가 되었음이었더라
5:8 온 백성에게 할례 행하기를 필하매 백성이 진중 각 처소에 처하여 낫기를 기다릴 때에
5:9 여호와께서 여호수아에게 이르시되 내가 오늘날 애굽의 수치를 너희에게서 굴러가게 하였다 하셨으므로 그 곳 이름을 오늘까지 길갈이라 하느니라
5:10 이스라엘 자손들이 길갈에 진쳤고 그 달 십사일 저녁에는 여리고 평지에서 유월절을 지켰고

5:1 요르단강을 건너 서편 지역에 있는 아모리의 모든 왕과 해안 지역에 있는 가나안의 모든 왕은 야훼께서 이스라엘 백성 앞에서 요르단강 물을 말리시어 건너게 하셨다는 소식을 들었다. 그들은 이스라엘 백성의 소문을 듣고 모두 넋을 잃었다.
5:2 그 때에 야훼께서 여호수아에게 이르셨다. "돌칼을 만들어 이스라엘 백성에게 또다시 할례를 베풀어라."
5:3 여호수아는 돌칼을 만들어 아랄롯 언덕에서 이스라엘 백성들에게 할례를 베풀었다.
5:4 여호수아가 그들에게 할례를 베푼 까닭은 이러하다. 에집트에서 나온 백성 가운데 군인 연령에 이른 남자는 에집트를 떠나 오는 도중, 광야에서 모두 죽었다.
5:5 그런데 에집트에서 나온 백성은 모두 할례를 받았지만 에집트를 떠나 오는 도중 광야에서 난 백성은 아무도 할례를 받지 않았다.
5:6 에집트에서 나올 때 군인 연령에 이른 층이 다 죽기까지 이스라엘백성은 사십 년 동안 광야를 헤매야 했다. 그들이 야훼의 말씀을 순종하지 않은 까닭에 야훼께서는 젖과 꿀이 흐르는 이 땅, 우리에게 주마고 우리 선조들에게 맹세하신 이 땅을 그들은 보지 못하리라고 다짐하셨던 것이다.
5:7 그들 대신에 그들 후손을 일으키셨는데 여호수아가 할례를 베풀어준 사람들이 바로 그들이었다. 그들이 아직 우멍거지 였던것은 도중에 할례를 받을 기회가 없었기 때문이었다.
5:8 온 국민이 할례를 받고 난 다음, 천막에서 쉬며 아물기를 기다리고 있는데
5:9 야훼께서 여호수아에게 말씀하셨다. "내가 오늘 너희에게서 에집트인들의 수모를 벗겼다." 그리하여 그 곳 이름을 지금까지 길갈이라고 한다.
5:10 이스라엘 백성들은 길갈에 진을 쳤다. 그리고 그 달 십 사일 저녁때에 예리고 평야에서 과월절을 지켰다.
5:11 과월절 다음날 그들은 그 땅의 소출을 맛보았다. 바로 그 날 그들은 누룩 안 든 떡과 볶은 곡식을 먹었던 것이다.
5:12 그들이 그 땅의 소출을 먹은 다음날 만나가 멎었다. 그 후로 다시는 이스라엘 백성에게 만나가 내리지 않았다. 그들은 당년에 가나안 땅에서 나는 것을 먹었다.
여호수아
5:1~12
5:1 요단 서쪽 지방의 모든 아모리 사람의 왕들과 지중해 연안의 모든 가나안 왕들이 여호와께서 요단 강물을 말리셔서 이스라엘 백성이 건너왔다는 소식을 듣고 두려워 떨며 당황하였다.
5:2 그때 여호와께서 여호수아에게 부싯돌로 칼을 만들어 이스라엘 남자의 포피를 자르라고 말씀하셨다.
5:3 그래서 여호수아는 여호와께서 명령하신 대로 부싯돌로 칼을 만들어 '할례산'이라고 하는 곳에서 이스라엘 모든 남자의 포피를 잘랐다.
5:4 여호수아가 이렇게 한 것은 이집트에서 나온 모든 남자들이 이미 포피를 베어 할례를 받았으나 전쟁에 나가 싸울 수 있는 사람들은 광야 생활 도중에 모두 죽었고 그 이후에 태어난 남자들은 아무도 포피를 자르지 않았기 때문이었다.
5:5 (4절과 같음)
5:6 이스라엘 백성은 이집트에서 나온 모든 군인들이 다 죽을 때까지 광야에서 40년 동안 방황하였다. 그들이 여호와께 순종하지 않았기 때문에 여호와께서는 그들의 조상들에게 주겠다고 약속하신 기름지고 비옥한 땅에 그들이 들어가지 못할 것이라고 말씀하셨다.
5:7 여호수아가 지금 포피를 자르는 이 사람들은 그들의 대를 이은 후손들이다. 이들은 도중에 포피를 자를 기회가 없어서 할례를 받지 못하였다.
5:8 포피를 자르는 일이 끝나자 모든 백성들은 각자 상처가 아물 때까지 자기 천막에 머물러 있었다.
5:9 그때 여호와께서 여호수아에게 '내가 오늘 이집트에서 종살이하던 너희 수치를 제거하였다.' 하고 말씀하셨다. 그래서 그 곳 이름을 '길갈'이라고 불렀으며 지금도 그렇게 불려지고 있다.
5:10 이스라엘 백성은 여리고 평야의 길갈에 진을 치고 있으면서 그 달, 곧 1월 14일 저녁에 유월절을 지켰다.
5:11 그리고 그 다음 날 그들은 가나안 땅에 들어 온 후 처음으로 그 땅의 농작물을 먹었는데 그것은 볶은 곡식과 누룩을 넣지않고 만든 빵이었다.
5:12 그 땅의 곡식을 먹은 그 다음 날부터는 만나가 내리지 않았다. 그래서 그 후로 이스라엘 백성은 만나를 두 번 다시 볼 수 없었고 그해부터 가나안 땅에서 나는 양식을 먹고 살았다.

5:1~12
5:1 Now when all the Amorite kings west of the Jordan and all the Canaanite kings along the coast heard how the LORD had dried up the Jordan before the Israelites until we had crossed over, their hearts melted and they no longer had the courage to face the Israelites.
5:2 At that time the LORD said to Joshua, "Make flint knives and circumcise the Israelites again."
5:3 So Joshua made flint knives and circumcised the Israelites at Gibeath Haaraloth.
5:4 Now this is why he did so: All those who came out of Egypt--all the men of military age--died in the desert on the way after leaving Egypt.
5:5 All the people that came out had been circumcised, but all the people born in the desert during the journey from Egypt had not.
5:6 The Israelites had moved about in the desert forty years until all the men who were of military age when they left Egypt had died, since they had not obeyed the LORD. For the LORD had sworn to them that they would not see the land that he had solemnly promised their fathers to give us, a land flowing with milk and honey.
5:7 So he raised up their sons in their place, and these were the ones Joshua circumcised. They were still uncircumcised because they had not been circumcised on the way.
5:8 And after the whole nation had been circumcised, they remained where they were in camp until they were healed.
5:9 Then the LORD said to Joshua, "Today I have rolled away the reproach of Egypt from you." So the place has been called Gilgal to this day.
5:10 On the evening of the fourteenth day of the month, while camped at Gilgal on the plains of Jericho, the Israelites celebrated the Passover.
5:11 The day after the Passover, that very day, they ate some of the produce of the land: unleavened bread and roasted grain.
5:12 The manna stopped the day after they ate this food from the land; there was no longer any manna for the Israelites, but that year they ate of the produce of Canaan.
Joshua
5:1~12
5:1 And it came to pass, when all the kings of the Amorites, which [were] on the side of Jordan westward, and all the kings of the Canaanites, which [were] by the sea, heard that the LORD had dried up the waters of Jordan from before the children of Israel, until we were passed over, that their heart melted, neither was there spirit in them any more, because of the children of Israel.
5:2 At that time the LORD said unto Joshua, Make thee sharp knives, and circumcise again the children of Israel the second time.
5:3 And Joshua made him sharp knives, and circumcised the children of Israel at the hill of the foreskins.
5:4 And this [is] the cause why Joshua did circumcise: All the people that came out of Egypt, [that were] males, [even] all the men of war, died in the wilderness by the way, after they came out of Egypt.
5:5 Now all the people that came out were circumcised: but all the people [that were] born in the wilderness by the way as they came forth out of Egypt, [them] they had not circumcised.
5:6 For the children of Israel walked forty years in the wilderness, till all the people [that were] men of war, which came out of Egypt, were consumed, because they obeyed not the voice of the LORD: unto whom the LORD sware that he would not shew them the land, which the LORD sware unto their fathers that he would give us, a land that floweth with milk and honey.
5:7 And their children, [whom] he raised up in their stead, them Joshua circumcised: for they were uncircumcised, because they had not circumcised them by the way.
5:8 And it came to pass, when they had done circumcising all the people, that they abode in their places in the camp, till they were whole.
5:9 And the LORD said unto Joshua, This day have I rolled away the reproach of Egypt from off you. Wherefore the name of the place is called Gilgal unto this day.
5:10 And the children of Israel encamped in Gilgal, and kept the passover on the fourteenth day of the month at even in the plains of Jericho.
5:11 And they did eat of the old corn of the land on the morrow after the passover, unleavened cakes, and parched [corn] in the selfsame day.
5:12 And the manna ceased on the morrow after they had eaten of the old corn of the land; neither had the children of Israel manna any more; but they did eat of the fruit of the land of Canaan that year.
Joshua

5:1 Now it came about when all the kings of the Amorites who [were] beyond the Jordan to the west, and all the kings of the Canaanites who [were] by the sea, heard how the LORD had dried up the waters of the Jordan before the sons of Israel until they had crossed, that their hearts melted, and there was no spirit in them any longer, because of the sons of Israel.
5:2 At that time the LORD said to Joshua, "Make for yourself flint knives and circumcise again the sons of Israel the second time."
5:3 So Joshua made himself flint knives and circumcised the sons of Israel at Gibeath-haaraloth.
5:4 And this is the reason why Joshua circumcised them: all the people who came out of Egypt who were males, all the men of war, died in the wilderness along the way, after they came out of Egypt.
5:5 For all the people who came out were circumcised, but all the people who were born in the wilderness along the way as they came out of Egypt had not been circumcised.
5:6 For the sons of Israel walked forty years in the wilderness, until all the nation, [that is,] the men of war who came out of Egypt, perished because they did not listen to the voice of the LORD, to whom the LORD had sworn that He would not let them see the land which the LORD had sworn to their fathers to give us, a land flowing with milk and honey.
5:7 And their children whom He raised up in their place, Joshua circumcised; for they were uncircumcised, because they had not circumcised them along the way.
5:8 Now it came about when they had finished circumcising all the nation, that they remained in their places in the camp until they were healed.
5:9 Then the LORD said to Joshua, "Today I have rolled away the reproach of Egypt from you." So the name of that place is called Gilgal to this day.
5:10 While the sons of Israel camped at Gilgal, they observed the Passover on the evening of the fourteenth day of the month on the desert plains of Jericho.
5:11 And on the day after the Passover, on that very day, they ate some of the produce of the land, unleavened cakes and parched [grain].
5:12 And the manna ceased on the day after they had eaten some of the produce of the land, so that the sons of Israel no longer had manna, but they ate some of the yield of the land of Canaan during that year.
